Zachariah "Zack" WALDROP

First Generation

1. Zachariah "Zack"1 WALDROP, son of Jechonias (John)
WALDROP Sr. and Margaret HARRISON, was born in Rutherford Co.,
North Carolina January 25, 1785.1 Zachariah died February 18,
1867 in Bessemer, Jefferson Co., Alabama, at 82 years of age.2
In February 1867 his body was interred in the family cemetery
in Jefferson Co., Alabama.

He married Esther "Hester" MCCLERKIN in Rutherford Co.,
North Carolina, October 8, 1808.3 Esther was born in North
Carolina circa 1790.4 Esther was the daughter of Richard
MCCLURKEN and Jane 'Jean' DUNWOODY. Esther died August 25,
1875 in Jefferson Co., Alabama, at 85 years of age.5 At 19
years of age Esther became the mother of Samuel Robert WALDROP
in North Carolina, July 10, 1809.6 At 23 years of age Esther
became the mother of Nancy S. WALDROP in North Carolina, March
2, 1814.7 At 27 years of age Esther became the mother of John
H. WALDROP in Alabama, June 12, 1818.8 At 32 years of age
Esther became the mother of Jane Cardine WALDROP in Alabama,
August 13, 1822. At 35 years of age Esther became the mother
of Albert Dunwoody 'Wood' WALDROP in Alabama, February 13,
1826.9 At 40 years of age Esther became the mother of Vesta
Margaret WALDROP in Alabama, February 17, 1831.10 She was
listed as a resident in the 1850 census report in Jefferson
Co., Alabama, 1850.11 She was listed as an unknown person's
neighbor in a census in Jefferson Co., Alabama, 1850.

At 24 years of age Zachariah became the father of Samuel
Robert WALDROP in North Carolina, July 10, 1809.12 At 29
years of age Zachariah became the father of Nancy S. WALDROP
in North Carolina, March 2, 1814.13 At 33 years of age
Zachariah became the father of John H. WALDROP in Alabama,
June 12, 1818.14 At 37 years of age Zachariah became the
father of Jane Cardine WALDROP in Alabama, August 13, 1822.
At 41 years of age Zachariah became the father of Albert
Dunwoody 'Wood' WALDROP in Alabama, February 13, 1826.15 At

1850. Zachariah was employed 1850, in Jefferson Co., Alabama
Farmer. On October 31, 1842, Zachariah Waldrop sold property
to John Smith as recorded in Jefferson County Deed Books.

North Carolina July 10, 1809.17 Samuel died August 7, 1886 in
Ashley Co., AK, at 77 years of age.18

He married Susannah 'Susan' HAMAKER in Jefferson Co.,
Alabama, December 12, 1833.19 Susannah was born in Stokes
Co., NC May 14, 1809.20 Susannah was the daughter of John
HAMAKER Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth SPEAR. Susannah died May 7,
1879 in Ashley Co., AK, at 69 years of age.21 At 25 years of
age Susannah became the mother of Artimesia Jane WALDROP in
Alabama, November 7, 1834.22 At 26 years of age Susannah
became the mother of Francis Marion WALDROP in Alabama,
October 19, 1835.23 At 27 years of age Susannah became the

with her husband Samuel Robert Waldrop and children. Deed Book
12, Page 548 of Jefferson County, Alabama states that John
Hamaker (70, PA) of Jefferson Co., Alabama, gave his daughter
Susan (40, NC), wife of Samuel Waldrop (40, NC) of Aarkansas a
gift of slaves on 13 June 1862.

At 25 years of age Samuel became the father of Artimesia
Jane WALDROP in Alabama, November 7, 1834.32 At 26 years of
age Samuel became the father of Francis Marion WALDROP in
Alabama, October 19, 1835.33 At 27 years of age Samuel became
the father of Rev. Jackson Van Buren WALDROP in Alabama, April

who was listed as single in the census. In the 1850 Jefferson
County, Alabama census, Samuel R., his wife Susan and 9
children were living in the Short Creek area of Jefferson
County, Alabama. Samuel and Susan were both listed as 40 years
old, and both born in North Carolina. The children were:
Artimesa, 15; Francis M., 14; Jackson V. B., 13; Benton Z.,
11; William L., 9; Elizabeth A., 8; Hester C., 6; Nancy F., 4;
and Susan M., 1. The family moved to Ashley Co., AK about
1858. They are listed in the 1870 and 1880 Ashley Co., AK
census. In the 1880 census Samuel, then aparently widdowed was
living with his two daughters Hester Carolina and Susan
Madaline Loften and their children.

Cemetery. At 32 years of age Alice became the
mother of Eugene SMITH October 24, 1882.204 At
35 years of age Alice became the mother of Nancy
SMITH April 16, 1886.205 At 38 years of age
Alice became the mother of Jacob H. SMITH March
26, 1889.206 At 42 years of age Alice became the
mother of Mahvilda SMITH March 24, 1893.207 At
45 years of age Alice became the mother of Grady
SMITH April 28, 1896.208
At 31 years of age Oliver became the father of
Eugene SMITH October 24, 1882.209 At 34 years of
age Oliver became the father of Nancy SMITH April
